November Scor-Pal More Than One Score

It's the beginning of the month, so that means it's time for the next Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge! This month, the theme is Gift Packaging. You can follow the theme, or you can make an Anything Goes project, as long as you follow the general rules.

Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make "More Than One Score" and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won't count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc, will :) Also we love to see your "Anything But a Card" projects, just as long as you make "More Than One Score".

I made a couple of gift bags that would be good for a gift card or other small gift.

I saw Gina K. make these for some Halloween treats, and used the pattern for my Christmas gift bags.

To make a bag, you will need the following:
1 - 4 1/4" x 9 1/2" piece of cardstock, plain or patterned
1 - 3" x 3 1/2" piece of coordinating cardstock (it can coordinate with the cardstock or patterned paper)
2 - 3 1/4" square pieces of patterned paper, if not using patterned cardstock
Embellishments to decorate

For the Angel bag, I used:
DCWV patterned cardstock from the Holiday Collection, The Christmas Stack
Sizzix - Stampin' Up! SnowBurst embossing folder
Hero Arts angel stamp
Gina K. Designs Jet Black Amalgam ink
Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers: AG1, AG3, AG5, IG1, IG3, FS3, EB2, EB6, TN9, GB11
Momenta Hark the Herald Angels Sing sentiment
Cottage Cutz Stitched Square die
Glue Dot - Removeable

For the Poinsettia bag, I used:
DCWV patterned paper from the Holiday Stack
Heartfelt Creations Poinsettias stamps and coordinating dies
Gina K. Designs Holiday Frame stamp set, by Melanie Muenchinger, for the sentiment
VersaMark ink
Hampton Art red embossing powder
Recollections Planner Set die
Glue Dots - Mini and Removeable

To make a bag, place the 9 1/2" side of your large piece of cardstock at the top of your Scor-Pal and score at 3 1/2", 4", 4 1/2", 8", 8 1/2" and 9". Turn it 1/4 turn to the right and score at 3/4".

Referring to the photo above, cut from the bottom, up to the score line at the 3 1/2", 4 1/2", 8" and 9" lines. (I cut up each side of the score line and trim off the small sliver. I find this gives me a little more room when I am folding the tabs in.) Cut off the right most corner, and add Scor-Tape along the right tab and along the second tab in from the right. Make sure the Scor-Tape is along the bottom edge so that it is covered by the other flap when it is folded.

If you are going to add patterned paper, add it now, before you fold the cardstock. It makes it easier to add!

Fold all the score lines except the ones at 4" and 8 1/2". These will be partially folded once the bag is put together. Remove the backing from the tape at the right tab, fold in the tab and fold the cardstock over to attach to the tab. Fold in the two end flaps at the bottom and then fold the other two flaps in, removing the tape backing and sticking them together. You can place it on your table and press inside to make sure the tape is secure.

Score the 3" x 3 1/2" piece in half at the 1 1/2" mark. Add Scor-Tape and adhere it to the back of the bag, leaving a little space at the top so it will fold over nicely. Press the top of the bag together, along the score lines in the middle of the sides. You can press the sides together as far down as you like, to make sure you have room for your gift, and so that the top will fold over.

Then you can have fun decorating it! I used removeable Glue Dots to fasten the front of the flap down, so that it can be used more than once.

I hope you will give the challenge a try. You could win a gift certificate to the Scor-Pal store!
