Sympathy Card

I have one more card for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge - Tic Tac Toe

This time I chose the bottom row, Vellum, Ink Blending and Tag.

I started by ink blending the background with Tangerine Twist, Wild Dandelion, Jelly Bean Green, Blue Lagoon, and Wild Lilac ink. I stamped the image, from the Natural Silhouettes stamp set, with Jet Black Amalgam ink.

I added this background to a black layer and then adhered a piece of vellum to the back of the layers. I folded it over the top so that it covers the front, making the background less vibrant.

I stamped the sentiment onto a little tag with Jet Black Amalgam ink, added a piece of black twine, and adhered it to the back of the black layer, before attaching the whole thing to a white card base.

The stamp set, inks and card stock are by Gina K. Designs.

Another Gift Card Holder

I'm back with another project for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge - Tic Tac Toe. We pick a line, vertical, horizontal or diagonal, and use the three elements on our project.

I am using the left column - Circle die cut, Heat embossing and Vellum.

I made a basic gift card holder, scoring a strip of cardstock, folding it over and gluing the sides with Gina K. Designs (GKD) Connect Glue. I did some ink blending, using GKD Christmas Pine ink and a blending brush. It looked a little bare, so I stamped the branches, from the GKD Seasonal Sentiments stamp set, with Christmas Pine ink.

I stamped the sentiment, also from the Seasonal Sentiments stamp set, with Christmas Pine ink, and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used a Cottage Cutz Stitched Circle die to cut it out.

I glued the top of the vellum circle to the top flap, adding dots of glue behind the sentiment. Then I added a removeable Glue Dot under the top flap to keep it closed.

This will probably be my last post before Christmas, so I will wish everyone a Merry Christmas! We might not be able to get together with all of our family, but we can still call, Zoom or Facetime, and stay safe!

Square Gift Card Holder

This month, the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge is called Tic Tac Toe. We choose a line - horizontal, vertical or diagonal, and make a project using those elements.

I chose the middle column - GKD patterned paper, square and ink blending. I am giving some gift cards this year, and still need holders for them, so I made one today.

The base is Gina K. Designs (GKD) Red Velvet cardstock, and is just a strip of cardstock scored and folded over, and then glued on the sides with GKD Connect Glue to make a pouch for the gift card. The patterned paper that I used is from the Gina K. Designs Winter Cheer patterned paper pack.

I used a Cottage Cutz Stitched Circle Die to cut out a circle. Then I stamped the sentiment, from the GKD Holiday Frame stamp set, by Melanie Muenchinger, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used a blending brush to ink blend GKD Red Hot ink around the sentiment.

I stamped and embossed a snowflake, from the Sparkling Snowflake stamp set, and used the coordinating die to cut it out.  I attached the top of the circle to the gift card holder and used a removable Glue Dot to hold the bottom down. I added the snowflake with a foam square.

Scor-Pal Mid Month Tutorial

Hi, everyone! At the beginning of the month, I showed my Christmas Slimline Box card, for the Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge - Any Winter Holiday. I'm back today with the detailed instructions.

To make the box, you will need:
one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock

Decorations and embellishments that you wish to use.

I drew a template to show where you cut(solid lines) and score(dotted lines) your piece of cardstock. Sections marked with an X are cut off and not used.

To start, cut two 3/4" wide strips from the short end of your cardstock. Trim 1/4" off one end, and score at 5/8" from each end of each piece. Crease along the score lines and add Scor-Tape to the end flaps.

You now have an 8 1/2" x 9 1/2" piece. With the 9 1/2" side at the top of your Scor-Pal, score at 7" and 9". Rotate the piece a quarter turn to the right, score at 6", and score at 2" from the 7" score line to the bottom (9 1/2"). You can also score at 4" and 8" if you are going to cut with scissors. I used a paper cutter, so I could measure with that.

Cut at the 4" and 8" marks. This will leave you with two pieces. The one with the score line all the way through will be the front piece, and the other one will be the back. That's the reason we didn't score that part - it doesn't get folded down. On each of the pieces, cut off the top right rectangle, and cut down the 7" score line to the score line in the middle.

Crease all the score lines and add Scor-Tape to the two tabs on the right. Your pieces should look like this.

Attach the tab of one of the large pieces to the side of the other large piece.

Fold the right hand piece over and attach to make the box.

Attach the strips to the inside, butting the flaps against the back edge for one, and the front edge for the other. This gives fairly even spacing.

Now comes the fun part - decorating your box! I used my Kadomaru Corner Rounder to round the corners of the flaps. There are a few to choose from on the Scor-Pal site.

The patterned paper is from the DCWV Holiday Collection - The Christmas Stack.
I used the following pieces:
Light patterned paper: two 1 7/8" squares
                                    one 1 7/8" x 6 7/8"
                                    one 3 7/8" x 6 7/8"
Green patterned paper: two 1 7/8" squares
                                      one 1 7/8" x 6 7/8"

I rounded the corners on the flaps, to match the base. The Stacker helped me add the Scor-Tape to all the patterned paper pieces. It's like having an extra hand!

The figures were cut with my Silhouette Cameo machine. I can't find where I got the file, but there are a few that are similar in the Silhouette Design store. I added all the figures, rearranging them until I was happy with the placement. Then I attached them with Scor-Tape. I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the star to add a bit of sparkle.

The box folds down to fit in a standard business envelope.

We would love to see your creations. You still have 2 weeks to enter, and all you have to do is have more than one score, and tell us where you used your Scor-Pal on your project. You could win a $25 gift certificate to the Scor-Pal store!

Square Shaker Card

This month, the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge is a Tic Tac Toe Challenge! We pick one row, column or diagonal, and use the three items on our project.

I picked the middle row: Heat Embossing, Square, Shaker.

The Mod Squad Challenge is White and Bright. We need to have white embossing on one colour of cardstock, and we can't use any other colour.

I used Gina K. Designs Blue Lagoon cardstock, stamped the images and sentiment from the Gina K. Designs  Sparkling Snowflake and Holiday Frame stamp sets with VersaMark ink, and heat embossed them in white.

I cut the middle square out and adhered it to a white card base. Then I placed my clear microbeads on the square and attached an Impression Obsession shaker card pouch. It has adhesive on the back, so you peel off the backing and stick it down! I added the rest of the embossed panel over the pouch to hide the edges and my card was finished.

Coffee Cup Rainbow

This is my last card for the STAMPlorations 6th Giving Thanks Blog Hop and Giveaway.

This one was a fun card to make. I used my MISTI to stamp the Coffee Cup Parade (by Shery Russ of STAMPlorations) in a rainbow of colours. I used Gina K. Designs Cherry Red, Wild Dandelion, Turquoise Sea, and Plum Punch ink.

I used the CUTplorations Thanks a Latte die for the sentiment.

I am also entering this in the STAMPlorations Never Ending Challenge.

Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge - December

It's hard to believe that it's time for the December Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge! This month, the theme is Any Winter Holiday. If you don't want to follow the theme, you can make an Anything Goes project, as long as it follows the general rules.

Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects.  As well as the theme, you will need to make "More Than One Score" and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won't count, but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will :) Also we love to see your "Anything But a Card" projects, just as long as you make "More Than One Score".

I chose to make a Christmas Slimline Box card.

I knew I would need a long card to hold all the images, but even a regular slimline card was almost too short. So, I decided to make a slimline box card. That gave me several layers to play with, but it was still tricky to place each figure so it wouldn't overlap too much.

The best part is that it folds flat to fit in a regular business size envelope.

Come back on the 15th to see a detailed tutorial!
