Penguin Palace Challenge #32

It's the last Penguin Palace Challenge of 2023. This time it's a Sketch Challenge.

I needed a quick birthday card, so this sketch was the perfect inspiration.

I used the Penguin Palace Fancy Gift Bow Stencils 360° for the main image. I blended Gina K. Designs Blue Raspberry ink through the stencil, cleaned the stencil, replaced it over the design and inked it up with VersaMark ink. Then I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

The sentiment is from the Penguin Palace An Amazing Friend stamp set, and was also stamped with Blue Raspberry ink. I cut it out and placed it over the middle of the design. Then I added a layer of Blue Raspberry cardstock before adhering it to a white card base. I added a few snowflakes from Picket Fence Studios Icicles Sequin Mix Plus.

December Scor-Pal card

This month, I have a fairly easy Christmas card. I am always looking for quick cards at this busy time of year.

When the sides are opened, it looks like this.

To make this card, you will need:
Cardstock - 5 1/2" x 10 1/4"

I used the following to decorate:
DCWV Holiday Stack patterned paper - 2 pieces - 1 1/2" x 5 1/4",
                                                                 2 pieces - 1 1/4" x 5 1/4",
                                                                 1 piece - 3 1/2" x 5 1/4"
Heartfelt Creations Poinsettia Ornament 2 stamp
Crafters Companion CI24 stamp set (came with a magazine)
Hero Arts Oval Infinity dies
Gina K. Designs Cherry Red ink
Gold foil cardstock
VersaMark ink
Gold embossing powder
Snowflake punch

With the 10 1/4" side at the top, score at 1 3/4", 3 1/4", 7", and 8 1/2". Starting from one side, make a valley fold and then a mountain fold. Repeat on the other side.

This is the base of your card, and you can decorate it for any occasion.

I stamped the ornament with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it in gold. I don't have the matching die, so I fussy cut it. I die cut an oval out of white cardstock and a slightly larger one out of gold foil cardstock, and taped them together. I stamped the sentiment with Cherry Red ink and added the ornament.

I taped the patterned paper onto the card base and added the oval panel to the front. I thought it needed a little something, so I punched out some snowflakes in white and gold. Here is the card fully opened.

Penguin Palace Challenge #31

This month, the challenge on the Penguin Palace Challenge Blog is a Colour Palette Inspiration photo.

Here's the card I came up with.

I used the Penguin Palace Scents of Fall Stencils 360° to make the background, and the sentiment is from their An Amazing Friend stamp set.

I inked the stencil with Gina K. Designs Dark Carnation, Cherry Red, Fresh Asparagus, Dark Sage, and  Sweet Corn ink. For the pine cones, I used a VersaMark marker and coloured in all the sections that had Sweet Corn ink. Then I heat embossed them with Gold embossing powder. I trimmed down the panel and attached it to a red layer before taping it to a white card base.

After I stamped the sentiment, I cut it out with a stitched circle die, added a red layer and added it to the card.

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Card 9

I found another coffee themed stamp set, so I have my last card for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

The Picket Fence Studios Coffee in Hand stamp set has many cute coffee themed sentiments, so I stamped one of them with Gina K. Designs Obsidian amalgam ink, cut it out and lightly blended some
Gina K. Designs Red Velvet ink over it.

I stamped the two coffee pots, from the same set, and used my Sand Dune Spectrum Noir sparkle marker to add some coffee. In person, it looks brown, but the sparkle makes it look silver in the picture.

The background is made with the Picket Fence Studios Sweater Pattern Maker stamp, and stamped with Red Velvet ink. I layered the background with some red cardstock, added the sentiment, and popped up the coffee pots with some foam squares.

I would like to thank Amy and her team for all the work they put into this, and also the Super Sponsors!

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Card 8

I have another card for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. This one uses a background die.

I cut out the background die and attached it to a white card base.

I stamped the image, coloured it, and cut it out with the die. I die cut an oval, stamped the sentiment and added the image before attaching it to the background.

Supplies used:

Penguin Palace Classic Diamond Backdrop die
Rabbit Cafe stamp set and coordinating dies
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Card 7

I have a pretty rainbow for my next card for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

I stamped the STAMPlorations Coffee Cup Parade stamp, and blended Gina K. Designs Cherry Red, Wild Dandelion, Lucky Clover, Turquoise Sea, and Wild Wisteria ink over the top.

I cut it out with the CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die, and mounted it on a white card base.

I used the CUTplorations Thanks a Latte die for the sentiment and added some sparkle with a Wink Of Stella pen.

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Card 6

My next card for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is a winter scene, with some cute penguins and their cocoa.

I stamped the penguins and cocoa cups, cut them out with the coordinating dies, and coloured them.

I stamped the trees, and then stamped off before stamping the back layer of trees. I blended some blue ink that was left on my blending brush to the top of the scene, and added some snow mounds at the bottom.

Then I stamped the sentiment, adhered the penguins and cocoa cups, added a black layer and attached it to a white card base.

I used the following supplies:
Gina K. Designs: Playful Penguins stamp set and coordinating dies, Winter Terrain stamp set
                  Christmas Pine ink
                  Obsidian Amalgam ink
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Card 5

Isabel Christina Stamps, a Super Sponsor, also gave a freebie for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I used it for Card #5.

I printed out the image, and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the pieces. While it was still on the cutting mat, I coloured it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. It was easier this way, as it gave me something to hold onto while I was colouring.

I wanted a subtle background, so the images showed up well, but it might be a little too subtle in the picture! I used the Carta Bella Lattice Stencil and Gina K. Designs Bubblegum Pink ink for the background pattern.

I popped out the images, and used the negative space to help me line up the images in their original configuration. I trimmed down the sentiment, matted them with Navy cardstock and added them to the background. The front panel was layered with Navy cardstock and then added to a white card base.

Thank you, Isabel Christina Stamps, for the sweet image and sentiment!

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Card 4

This card uses a Digital freebie, called Santa and Elf Brentwood, that was given by Jessica Lynn Original Studios, one of the Super Sponsors of the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

I printed the image, and coloured it with Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers. I love the sparkle that they give! I trimmed it down, layered it with a red panel and attached it to a piece of patterned paper. I added all of this to a white card base.

Thank you, Jessica Lynn Original Studios, for the cute image!

Coffee Lovers Hop Card 3

I have another card for the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. This is card 3.

For this card, I used the Dare 2B Artzy Latte Love stamp set, and the coordinating Frappe & Donut die set.

I stamped the cup, sleeve and top with Gina K. Designs Obsidian amalgam ink, and coloured them with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. Then I cut them out with the dies and glued them together.

I stamped the sentiment and coffee beans with Gina K. Designs Chocolate Truffle amalgam ink, added a piece of patterned paper from Gina K. Designs Give Thanks paper pack, and popped up the cup with some foam squares.

Coffee Lovers Hop Card 2

Today I have my second card for the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

It is a digital stamp from Stamplorations, called Coffee Bloom Prints Digital Stamp. I printed it on a lighter weight cardstock that would work with my printer, and coloured it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Then, I fussy cut it and attached it to an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of heavy weight cardstock. I scored and folded the cardstock along the left side of the mug. Then, using a Fiskers fingertip detail knife, I cut around the mug to trim off the extra cardstock.

This makes a nice shaped card, which stands up. I didn't add a sentiment to the front, as I didn't want to cover up any of the pretty design!

Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Here is my first card for the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I am a little slow getting started, but I hope to have more cards in the next few days.

I stamped the images and then used the stencil for the background. I coloured in the teapots and teacups with coloured pencils, and added my sentiment. This was a quick and easy 1 layer card!

Supplies:
Funky Fossil Time for Tea stamp set
Funky Fossil Pincushion Pattern Stencil - I thought they looked like snowflakes!
Gina K. Designs Tranquil Teal and Bubblegum Pink ink
Blending brushes with some blue and pink ink left on them

November Scor-Pal More Than One Score

This month, I made a card with a few simple scores and folds. and it's easy enough that you can make a batch of them for your Christmas cards.

To make this card, you will need:

4 pieces of double sided paper or cardstock - 2 1/2" x 1 3/4"
A piece of cardstock for the middle - approximately 1 1/2" - 1 5/8" square
A piece of cardstock for the layer - 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
An A2 size card base

I used DCWV Holiday Collection - The Christmas Stack for my double sided cardstock, Recollections Matte Gold Foil cardstock for the layer, Gina K. Designs Holiday Frame stamp set for the sentiment, and a Cottage Cutz Stitched Square die for the middle piece.

To start, lay out your 4 small pieces of cardstock in the arrangement you want.

For the 4 middle corners, on the back of each piece, make a mark 1" from the corner on each side. Then, line up the marks with a score line on your Scor-Buddy and score. You'll notice that there are marks at the bottom to help you line up with the inch marks at the top.

Fold along the score line toward the front.

Tape the 4 pieces to the outer corners of the layer and place the small square in the middle. Then, tape all this to the card base.

Here's another picture, showing the shine of the foil and embossed sentiment.

Coffeelovers Look Back

The 2023 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers blog hop is coming up later this week, and we were invited to show our favourite projects from previous years.

I have only made cards for a few of the years, but here is my favourite from each year, linked to the original blog post.

It was hard to choose which one I liked best from each year! Now I need to get ready for this year's blog hop!

Sympathy card

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card this week. I already had the feathers stamped for the Gina K. Designs October Monthly Mix challenge - Emboss Resist, and thought it was the perfect focal point for my card.

The feathers came from the Stamper’s Favorites stamp set. I stamped them with VersaMark ink and heat embossed them in white. Then, I blended Blue Lagoon and Medium Lilac ink over the feathers. The sentiment is from the So Many Sentiments stamp set, and is stamped with Obsidian Amalgam ink.

I layered the front panel with Blue Lagoon cardstock before attaching it to a white card base.

Everything is from Gina K. Designs, except the VersaMark ink and embossing powder.

Zenflowers Emboss Resist Card

This month, the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix challenge is to use the Emboss Resist technique.

I started by stamping the flowers with VersaMark ink, and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Then, I blended ink (Honey Mustard, Sweet Corn, Tangerine Twist) over the panel, using the flowers as a guide. I used a piece of paper towel to gently rub the ink off the embossed areas.

I stamped the sentiment with Chocolate Truffle amalgam ink on a strip of vellum, and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I folded the strip around the panel and attached it to the back, and then adhered the panel to a piece of Honey Mustard cardstock before adding it to a white card base.

The stamps (Zenflowers, Birthday Blessings) and inks are from Gina K. Designs.

October Scor-Pal More Than One Score

This month, I made a simple pop-up card, with an Autumn theme.

When you open it, it has a pop-up element.

To make the pop-up element, you just need a piece of cardstock that measures 2" by 3". Using your Scor-Buddy, with the 3" side at the top, score it every 3/4", and fold along the scores.

Fold the left and right sides in to the middle, and add Scor-Tape to the side flaps.

Remove the backing paper, turn it over, and attach it to your card base, lining up the crease in the pop-up element with the crease in the card base.

Then you can attach anything you want popped up. If you have a larger item, you can make the pop-up element longer, and if you have a smaller item, you can make it smaller. You could make several, if you have several small items to add, especially if you were making a landscape orientation instead of portrait.

Then you can decorate the front of your card. My supplies are from Gina K. Designs.

I used the dies from the Autumn Wishes and Electric Pop Flowers stamp sets to cut out the leaves from white cardstock. Then I attached them to a white card panel and blended Sweet Mango, Sweet Corn, Honey Mustard, and Red Hot ink over the front of the panel.

I used Chocolate Truffle amalgam ink to stamp the sentiment, from the Autumn Wishes stamp set, and then I clear embossed it before rounding the corners. I added this to the front panel and added a Chocolate Truffle panel before attaching it to a white card base.

For my popped up element, I stamped the leaves and added a Chocolate Truffle panel. I also added a few metallic leaves for some sparkle.

This is a quick and easy way to add a pop-up element to your cards!

Another Faux Embossing card

I made another card for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge - Faux Embossing.

All supplies are from Gina K. Designs.

I started with a piece of Sweet Mango cardstock, and placing it in the upper right hand corner of my MISTI, stamped the leaves with Coral Reef ink. I cleaned the stamps, but didn't move them. Then I shifted the cardstock down and to the left, and stamped with Ivory pigment ink. A bit of the Coral Reef ink shows on one side of the leaves, with the Ivory showing on the other. This gives an embossed look.

I stamped the sentiment with Coral Reef ink, added a Coral Reef panel and attached it to a white card base.

The leaves are from the Autumn Silhouettes stamp set, and the sentiment is from the Butterfly Kisses stamp set.

Penguin Palace Challenge #29

This month, the Penguin Palace challenge #29 is to use this colour palette as inspiration.

Here is my card.

I used the Penguin Palace The Rose Close-Up stencil, and inked it up with Gina K. Designs ink:
Sweet Corn, Light Carnation, and Dark Carnation. The stencil doesn't have leaves, so I masked off part of the stencil and used some of the petals as leaves, which are in Jelly Bean Green ink. Then I blended some Turquoise Sea ink around the edges.

This is a one layer card, as I made this right on the card base.

Faux Embossing Technique

The Gina K. Designs September 2023 Monthly Mix Challenge is Faux Embossing Technique. This is my card for the challenge.

To get this effect, I stamped the image, from the Summer Silhouettes stamp set, and the sentiment, from the Massive Messages stamp set, with Tranquil Teal ink, onto Turquoise Sea cardstock, using my MISTI. I wiped off the stamps, but made sure not to move them. I then stamped  with Ivory ink a few times. It lightens the blue ink and gives the 3D effect.

I added the panel to a white card base to finish the card.

All the supplies are from Gina K. Designs.

Scor-Pal September More Than One Score

This month, I made a card with some 3D flowers, so I needed to make a box for an envelope.

To make this box, you will need:
2 pieces of heavy cardstock - 7 1/4" x 9 1/2"

Items to decorate, if desired. I used Heartfelt Creations Fuchsia Clusters stamp set, coloured with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Take one of the pieces of cardstock, and place it in your Scor-Pal with the 7 1/4" side at the top. Score at 1" and 6 3/4". Turn it 90° to the left, and score at 1/2", 1 1/2" and 8 1/2".

The dotted lines are the score lines, and the solid lines are the cut lines. When I made this template, it was 1/2" too wide. The written instructions give the correct measurements. Remove the parts marked with an X. If you want to decorate your box, it is much easier to do it now.

Repeat with the second piece of cardstock. You will make one more cut on this piece - the top right hand section - leaving just the tab at the top left. Place Scor-Tape on the right hand side flap of each piece.

Remove the tape backing and attach the two pieces of cardstock together on both sides. Place Scor-Tape on the bottom flap as shown below. Fold in side flaps, then the flap with the tape. Remove tape backing and fold in the last flap to adhere.

Here is the finished box.

For my card, I used the Heartfelt Creations Cascading Fuchsia and Fuchsia Clusters stamp sets on the front panel and then taped the panel to a card base. I scored a diagonal pattern in the green border, taped it to the front of the panel and attached the 3D fuchsias.
