July Scor-Pal More Than One Score

It's July already! Where did the first half of the year go? That means it's time for a new Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge. This month, the theme is Patriotic, or you can make an Anything Goes project as long as it follows the general rules.

Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make "More Than One Score" and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won't count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc, will :) Also we love to see your "Anything But a Card" projects, just as long as you make "More Than One Score".

I live in Canada, so our birthday is July 1st. I made a folded card, highlighting the maple leaf, which is on our flag.

Here are the supplies you need to make the card:

Scor-Pal
Scor-Tape

8" square piece of cardstock

To decorate it, I used:
Gina K. Designs Autumn Wishes Stamp n Stencil set, with coordinating dies
       Red Hot, Red Velvet ink
Square Pegs, Lovely Lilies stamp sets
Crate Paper Oh Darling patterned paper pad (polka dot paper)
Cottage Cutz Stitched Square dies
VersaMark ink
red embossing powder, white and red cardstock, sequins

On your 8" square piece of cardstock make a small pencil mark at the top at 2", 4" and 6". At the 2" mark, measure down 4" and make a small dot. At the 4" mark, measure down and make a small dot at 2" and 6". At the 6" mark, measure down 4" and make a small dot.

Using your Scor-Pal, score from the 4" mark down to the first dot, and score from the 6" mark down to the small dot. Rotate the cardstock one turn to the right and repeat the scoring as above. Do this two more times, so all four sides are scored. Then score between the small dots to create a diamond shape. You should have something like this:

On the template, the V represents a valley fold, and the M represents a mountain fold. I forgot to mark the diamond shape in the middle - it has all valley folds.

Fold along all the score lines, and twist the folds slightly to the left to make it lay flat.

This is what it looks like when folded:

This is what the back looks like:

I decorated my card with a variety of supplies. The patterned paper has the polka dots, and the flourish design is stenciled. The middle diamond is supposed to look like fireworks. I'm not sure if I pulled it off! It is actually a stamp that puts a design on the middle of a lily. I added a few sequins as they are rather flat. I didn't want anything that would add a lot of bulk, as the folded card is already quite thick with all the layers of cardstock. I didn't put anything on the back so that I have a place to write my personal message.

I wish all my Canadian friends a happy Canada Day, and a happy Fourth of July to all my American readers.

If you make a project with more than one score, you can enter the challenge and you might win a gift certificate to the Scor-Pal store!
