July Scor-Pal More Than One Score

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends!  Happy 4th of July in a few days to my American friends! It's time for another Scor-Pal project with More Than One Score!

This month, I made a card with a kite fold design in the middle.

To make this card, you will need:
8 square pieces of patterned paper
cardstock for the card base and behind the folded design
background to coordinate with the design

I used a die to cut out my squares, but you can use a punch, or cut them with a paper trimmer. My squares measure 1 1/4", and my card base is 4 1/4" square, so that gives you some idea of the finished size.

For each square, line it up on the diagonal on one of the Scor Buddy's inch grooves. You can see in the picture that the bottom of the grooves for the inches are marked, making it easy to line up. Score down the groove.

Once you have all the pieces scored, fold in each corner to meet up with the score line. It will look like a kite shape.

Repeat with all 8 squares.

For the cardstock behind the design, cut it slightly larger than twice the size of your squares. My squares are 1 1/4", so my pieces are 2 5/8". To line up your pieces, on the back of one piece draw a line along the diagonals, and on the other piece mark the midpoint of each side and draw a line connecting the opposite sides.

Then, add your Scor-Tape and place one piece on top of the other one, lining up the drawn lines.

Turn the piece over and add your kite pieces. I laid all the pieces on first, to make sure they lined up, and then I took the release paper off the Scor-Tape and taped them down.

For my card background, I used a technique I saw on Jennifer McGuire's YouTube channel. You add white pigment ink to the raised side of an embossing folder, add your cardstock and run it through your embossing machine. I had some of the white ink transfer where I didn't want it, so I rubbed a matching coloured ink pad over the top of the cardstock. Since the white ink is debossed in the design, it doesn't get coloured.

Try two or more colours for your squares for a different look.

Fun with Rubber Bands

The challenge for June on the Gina K Designs and Stamp TV Friends Facebook page is to make a card using rubber bands.

For my first card, I wrapped rubber bands around an acrylic block, and inked up the rubber bands like a stamp, using Light Orchid and Wild Dandelion ink, to make a plaid design.

I cut my panel on an angle, and attached the two pieces to a white card base. I stamped the sentiment, from the  Sketched Flowers stamp set, with Dark Orchid ink in between the background pieces.

I added the flower and leaves, also from the Sketched Flowers stamp set, and cut out with the  coordinating dies. I used Dark Orchid, Wild Dandelion, and Lucky Clover ink.

All of the supplies are from Gina K. Designs.

For this card, I wrapped rubber bands around a brayer, inked them up, and rolled them onto the cardstock, using Applemint and Blue Lagoon ink.

The sentiment is from the Little Thoughts stamp set, and stamped with Obsidian Amalgam ink.

I used Applemint cardstock for the layers and cut all the pieces with Master Layouts 3.

All the supplies are from Gina K. Designs.

Summer Moodboard

The Penguin Palace challenge for this month is a Summer Moodboard. I didn't do a beach scene, but I used the colour palette to make a card with a summer feel.

For my background, I blended Gina K. Designs Sandy Beach, Powder Blue, Ocean Mist, Blue Lagoon, and Blue Denim ink. Then I stamped the images, from the Penguin Palace Rabbit Cafe stamp set, coloured them with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, and cut them out with the coordinating dies.
I used bright colours to give a summer feel.

I used a bright pink mat, and then attached everything to a white card base.

Baptism card

I needed a baptism card, and didn't have any stamps with the right sentiment, so I used my Foil Quill to write one.

The die cut cross is from Gina K. Designs Elegant Cross set. It has a solid base layer and an intricate top layer.

For the inside, I also used the Foil Quill to write the sentiment.

It's easier to see the foil shine in this picture.

I was pleased with the way this turned out, and am glad that I was able to write my own sentiments so they look better than my handwriting!

Anniversary card

I saw this technique on Gina K. Designs YouTube channel, and thought it would make a nice anniversary card.

You need a stamp positioner to make this, but it is fairly easy to do. I stamped the image, from the Gina K. Designs (GKD) Peaceful Violets stamp set, on two pieces of cardstock, using my MISTI, so they are in the same position on both pieces. Then I centered the GKD 3-D Diamonds cover plate die on one of the pieces of cardstock, and cut it out. I added GKD Connect glue to the back, and attached it to the solid piece, lining up the stamped pattern.

I added a violet mat and attached everything to a white card base. The Happy is from the deco foil Happy Everything stamp and die set, and is stamped with GKD Lovely Lavender. Anniversary comes from the GKD Happy Bouquet stamp set, by Arjita Singh, and is also stamped in Lovely Lavender.

June Scor-Pal More Than One Score

This month, I made a Father's Day card with a Double Z fold.

It opens up like this.

To make this card, you will need:
cardstock - 5 3/4" x 8 1/2"
                 - 4" x 8"
stamps, patterned paper to decorate

On the larger piece of cardstock, with the 8 1/2" side at the top, score at 2 1/8" and 4". On the smaller piece, with the 8" side at the top, score at 4" and 6". Fold to make a Z in each piece, making a mountain fold on the left and a valley fold on the right.

Decorate with patterned paper and stamps. To attach the smaller piece to the larger piece, add Scor-Tape to the back of the top half of the square on the smaller piece. Before you take off the release paper, line it up so you know approximately where to place it. Then remove the release paper, and attach it.

Add Scor-Tape to the back of the bottom section of the small piece. Turn the card over, open the front of the card, and fold up the small piece as it will be when the card is closed. Here, the front of the card is closest to the bottom of the picture.

Then, remove the release paper and close the card up.

The small piece will be in the perfect spot. You could also make this as a portrait style card, with the opening on the right.

Masking Magic Strips

I have another card for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix challenge (on the Gina K Designs & Stamp TV Friends Facebook page), where we are to use Masking Magic strips on our project. I am getting in under the wire, as the challenge ends in about 2 hours!

I used 1/4" strips of Masking Magic, and placed them in a lattice pattern on my cardstock. Then I stamped the Petite Flourish Background stamp, with Light Lilac ink, and blended a bit of the ink onto the background. Then I removed the strips to reveal the pattern.

The stamps, leaves and sentiment are from the Layered Carnation stamp set, and are cut out with the coordinating dies. They are stamped with Light Lilac, Medium Lilac, Dark Lilac, Light Spruce and Medium Spruce ink.

All the above supplies are from Gina K. Designs.

Penguin Palace Challenge #25

Here's a card I made for the Penguin Palace Challenge #25. We have the following sketch for inspiration.

I used the Penguin Palace (PP) Plaid Floral Fun Stencils 360°  to make the background. I cut it down to fill the top of the card, and cut a narrow strip from plain cardstock for the bottom. The sentiment is from the PP An Amazing Friend stamp set, and the cute penguin is from the PP Penguin Agenda stamp set, which was cut out with the coordinating die.

I layered the two pieces on some kraft cardstock and attached that to a white card base.

Window Scene

I made this card for a challenge on the Gina K. Designs and Stamp TV Friends Facebook page. We need to use Masking Magic Strips in some way on our card.

I cut strips of Masking Magic, and adhered them to the edges of a piece of cardstock, as well as the halfway points, both horizontally and vertically. Using Jelly Bean Green, Turquoise Sea, and Wild Wisteria ink, I created an ink blended background. Then, I stamped the images and sentiment, from the Summer Silhouettes stamp set, with Obsidian Amalgam ink. I stamped the flowers with coloured ink, because black flowers didn't seem right!

Once I removed the Masking Magic Strips, I attached the panel to a Turquoise Sea cardstock, and added this to a white card base.

All my supplies are from Gina K. Designs.

May Scor-Pal More Than One Score

For my May project, I have a card with a double curtain fold.

To make this card, you will need:
double sided patterned paper - 5 3/8" x 10"
cardstock - 5 3/4" x 8 1/2"

With the 10" side of the patterned paper at the top, score at 1", 1 1/2", 2 1/2", 3", 4", 4 1/2", 5 1/2", 6", 7", 7 1/2", 8 1/2", and 9". On both short sides, make a mark at 2 3/16" and 3 3/16". Then draw a line from the 2 3/16" mark on the left side to the 4 1/2" score line at the top. Repeat on the right side to the 5 1/2" score line. Next, draw lines from the 3 3/16" marks to the 4 1/2" and 5 1/2" score lines at the bottom.

Once all the lines are drawn, cut along the lines, and fold along the score lines. You can decide which side of the patterned paper you want on top.

Then, using your Scor-Tape and the Stacker, tape down all the folds.

Score and fold the cardstock to make your card base, and attach the patterned paper, along with another layer, if you want. Then you can add your sentiment and embellishments.
