Yellow and Gray

The Mod Squad Challenge this week is called Perfectly Pantone. The 2021 colors from the Pantone Color Institute are Yellow and Gray, so we are to use only yellow and gray on our card. We can also use white and black, if we wish.

All of my supplies are by Gina K. Designs, except the Stickles.

I blended Soft Stone ink through the Harvest Flourish stencil onto a piece of white cardstock. The sentiment and flowers are from the Autumn Silhouettes stamp set, and are stamped with Soft Stone ink onto Wild Dandelion cardstock.

I attached these onto a piece of black cardstock, since I realized that I didn't have any gray cardstock! This was then added to a white card base. To add a bit of sparkle, I used some yellow Stickles on the dots in the stencil design. 

   

Scor-Pal More Than One Score - April

It's time for the April Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge. This month, the theme is April Showers, or April Fool Us (use a hidden/surprise element), or you can make an Anything Goes project as long as it follows the general rules.

Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make "More Than One Score" and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won't count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will :) Also we love to see your "Anything But a Card" projects, just as long as you make "More Than One Score".

I made a Hidden Image card this month. This is what it looks like closed.

To make this card, you will need:

5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock for the card base (I used green)

3 3/4" x 4 3/4" piece of cardstock for the sliding tab (I used kraft)

2 1/2" x 4" piece of cardstock for your images (I used Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock)

The Stacker - Well, I guess you don't need this, but it makes it so easy to add your Scor-Tape!

Score the green piece at 4" and 8". Make 2 slits from 3/4" from the top down to 4 3/4" at 4 3/4" and 7 1/4". Cut the kraft piece at 2" almost down to the bottom. I left about 1/2" attached. Your pieces should look something like this:

You can decorate your card base, if you like. I first stamped a circle design (from an unknown company), with ColorBox Fresh Green ink, but I found it didn't show up, so then I used the flourish from the Gina K. Designs Layered Daisies stamp set, and stamped it with Gina's Lucky Clover ink.

On the white piece of cardstock, stamp your two images. The hidden image will be on the left. I used a balloon stamp that I have had for years, but don't know who made it. I used Spectrum Noir alcohol markers AG2, AG4, DR3, DR5, CT1, CT3 to colour the balloons, and added some Clear Wink of Stella on the highlights. The sentiment on the right is from the Stampendous Birthday Assortment stamp set. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink for these.

Attach the white piece between the two slits with Scor-Tape. Punch a half circle on the edge, so it's easy to pull the tab. I used a 1 1/2” circle punch, but you can use whatever size you have.

From the back, thread the 2" flap of the kraft piece through one slit and back through the other slit. I actually took this picture before I had taped on the white piece, and realized that it was much easier to put the white piece on first. 

Turn it over and tape the 2" flap back to the rest of the kraft piece. Add a piece of Scor-Tape along the 1/2" tab, fold the back of the card up, and fold the tab down on the outside. This way, it doesn't interfere with the slider.

Now you can decorate the front of the sliding tab. I used the Stampin’ Up! Create a Cupcake stamp set
with Gina K. Designs Lucky Clover, Wild Dandelion, and Cherry Red ink, and the Cupcake Builder punch to punch it out. I attached it with some Forever in Time foam squares.

Thinking of You

I made one more card for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge - Here Comes The Sun. We are supposed to mask off and create an ink blended sunrise sky.

All products are from Gina K. Designs, unless otherwise indicated.

I used an oval stencil by STAMPlorations (Monika Skinner Designs Flexi-Template) to mask off the area and blended Sweet Corn, Innocent Pink, Wild Wisteria, Powder Blue, Blue Denim, and In the Navy ink to create the sunrise design. I cut the panel with the Cutplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle die, matted it with black cardstock and attached it to a white card base.

The sentiment is from the Natural Silhouettes stamp set, stamped with Jet Black Amalgam ink and matted with black. I popped it up with some foam squares from my stash, and added some gold bling to represent stars.

Birthday Sunrise

 My husband's birthday was earlier this month. I wanted to wait until I had given him the card before I posted it!

I masked off the rectangular area and blended Sweet Corn, Innocent Pink, Sea Glass, Turquoise Sea, Blue Lagoon, Blue Denim, and Green Grass ink to create a sunrise scene.

The reeds are from the By The Sea stamp set, the butterfly is from the Fabulous Frame stamp set and the sentiment is from the Happy Birthday to You stamp set. They were all stamped with Jet Black Amalgam Ink.

I layered the sunset scene with black cardstock and attached it to the white card base.

Butterfly Sunrise

 My brother-in-law is having a birthday this weekend, so I sent him a birthday card. I am entering this in two challenges: Mod Squad Challenge - Beautiful Butterflies and Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge - Here Comes the Sun.

For the Gina K. Designs challenge, we had to mask off an area and create an ink blended sunrise sky. I used Wild Dandelion, Peach Bellini, Coral Reef, Powder Blue, Blue Denim, Jelly Bean Green, and Fresh Asparagus ink for the ink blending. I matted it with Jelly Bean Green cardstock and added it to a white card base.

The butterfly is from the Butterfly Kisses Foil Mates, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, foiled with Glittering Green Fancy Foils, and was cut out with the coordinating die.

March Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge

It's time for another Scor-Pal More Than One Score challenge. For March, the theme is St. Patrick's Day or Easter, or you can do Anything Goes, as long as it follows the general rules.

Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make "More Than One Score" and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won't count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will :) Also we love to see your "Anything But a Card" projects, just as long as you make "More Than One Score".

This month, I made an Easter Gate Fold card.

To make the base of the Gate Fold card, start with a piece of cardstock that measures 6" x 8 1/2". With the 8 1/2" side at the top of your Scor-Pal, score at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8". The Scor-Pal makes it easy, because it has dots at these two measurements. Fold along the two score lines.

Then you can decorate it as you like. 

I used the Stampendous Blessings Cross stamp set for the cross, stamping with VersaMark ink and heat embossing with gold embossing powder. Then I took some purple cardstock and used the Martha Stewart Garden Trellis punch to make the design on the edges. I cut two pieces of yellow cardstock to 2” x 5 7/8”, and trimmed the purple cardstock to fit over them. I then attached them to the two flaps on the front of the card. I adhered the cross to the left flap, making sure that I only put Scor-Tape on the left side of the back. The Stacker made it easy to put the Scor-Tape on the cardstock.

For the inside sentiments, I used the Sweet ‘n Sassy Jesus Paid It All stamp set and stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Valentine Card

Now that Valentine's Day is over, I can post this card. I didn't want to post it until I knew my friend had received it! 

I used the ColorBox Lovely stencil and inked it with Gina K. Designs (GKD) Red Hot ink. I wanted a little sparkle, so I added some Clear Wink of Stella over the hearts.

I stamped the word LOVE, using GKD  Lots of Letters 2 stamp set and Gina's Jet Black Amalgam ink. I added the little heart (from the GKD Little Thoughts stamp set) in the O and cut it out with a GKD Decorative Label Set die. I used the same die to cut out a black shape, cut it in half and attached the two pieces to the back of the top and bottom of the sentiment piece. 

The inside sentiment comes from the GKD Sketched Wreath Builder stamp set, and I added a couple of the same hearts that I used on the front.

Scor-Pal More Than One Score - February

Here we are at the beginning of February already! It's time for another Scor-Pal More Than One Score challenge. This month, the theme is Valentine's Day, or you can do Anything Goes, as long as it follows the general rules.

I decided to do a twisted pop-up card. When you open it up, the inside strip pops up.

Dragonfly Wreath

 I wanted to make another card for the Mod Squad Challenge - Fly Away. We are to use something with wings as our focal image. I decided to use dragonflies.

I used the Gina K. Designs Follow Your Dreams stamp set for the images and sentiment. I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, using the Wreath Builder Template, and coloured them with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers TB6, BT8, and GT2. I layered this panel onto a piece of Gina K. Designs Turquoise Sea cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment onto a white card base, using GKD Turquoise Sea ink, and added the dragonfly panel at the top.

It has been a mild winter so far, but this week we are supposed to get some colder weather. I'll have to dig out my scarf! 

New Home

 I know someone who recently moved into a new home, so I wanted to make a card for her. The Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge is called Put Your Red Dress On. Red must be the dominant colour and it must be a celebratory card. The Mod Squad Challenge is called Fly Away. We must use something with wings as our focal image.

I made this card, which combines the two challenges.

I used the torn paper technique that Gina and Tom used in this video. I blended Cherry Red, Red Velvet, and Lipstick ink in the space between the torn paper masks. Then I added the two butterflies, from the Birthday Blessings stamp set, in Faded Brick ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.

I stamped the sentiment, from the Holiday Frame Fillers stamp set, with Lipstick ink. I adhered the front panel onto a Red Velvet layer and then onto a white card base.
