Christmas in July

I made this card for two challenges: Mod Squad Blog challenge - Mark it, Stamp it (where we had to colour our stamp with markers and then stamp) and StampTV MIUM - Christmas in July.

I chose which stamp I wanted to use and coloured and stamped it. I thought it had a watercolour look so I decided to do a watercolour background. Using the same markers that I had coloured my stamp with, I scribbled on an acetate block and stamped onto a wet piece of watercolour paper. I did this a few times, soaking up excess water, until I had the look I wanted. I added little spots of red to look like the berries on the wreath.

I matted the background and attached it to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base. I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the wreath, embossed it with a Sparkle powder, cut out the wreath, matted it and used foam squares to adhere it to the background. I added the bow with a Glue Dot.

Supplies used:
Gina K. Designs Christmas Joy stamp set
Canson Bristol paper
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Recollections Glitz Sparkle embossing powder
Creative Memories circle cutting system
Glue Dot
markers, white and black cardstock, ribbon, and foam squares from my stash

  3. Wow! I cannot imagine how you managed to color that small image so perfectly with the markers. I shake so bad sometimes that I would have a mess. Funny I can manage to get lip gloss on without having it end up on my chin and nose. LOL And I love the background too.
