Marbled Background

This week the StampTV MIUM challenge is Let's Play with Marbles. We had to make a background with a marble and ink technique that can be seen in this video: Here is my card:

I made the background by rolling the marbles in some ink I had placed in a plastic container that would close. Then I taped the cardstock to the inside of the lid, turned it upside down and rolled the marbles on the cardstock. This transfers the ink onto the cardstock in a random way. The video explains it in a much better way!

I stamped the sentiment and the acorn in VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. I coloured in the acorn with markers and die cut it. I layered the background layer with brown and then placed it on a cream card base. I added the sentiment layer which was also matted with brown and popped the acorn up with a foam circle.

Here are the supplies I used:

Gina K. Designs: Birthday Blessings and Give Thanks stamp sets
                             Coordinating die
Stampin' Up! Copper Metallic re-inker and Cajun Craze ink
VersaMark ink
Martha Stewart Antique Gold embossing powder
cream and brown cardstock, markers, marbles, foam dot from my stash

  1. Your card is gorgeous. I can't find my marbles so have not tried it. Looks fun.

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate each one.
