Favourite Techniques

This is a card I made for the StampTV Kit Addicts challenge - Your Favorite. We could use our favourite technique when we were making our card. I combined several of my favourites into one card.

I love to make my own backgrounds, different folds and embossing so I used them all! I made the background using alcohol inks and layered it before adhering it to an ivory gatefold card base. I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark ink, heat embossed it, die cut it and matted it before attaching the left side to the left side of the card.

I used the following supplies:

Gina K. Designs: Painted Autumn stamp set
                             Ivory and Fresh Asparagus cardstock
Homemade alcohol ink: Brown, Orange, Green and Yellow
VersaMark ink
Mix of Recollections Tinsel Vintage Mahogany and Stampendous Clear Bark embossing powder
dies that came with the Evolution Advanced machine

Night Scene

The challenge this week for StampTV MIUM is to create a scene. I chose to do a night scene. This is also one of my favourite techniques so I am entering it in the StampTV Kit Addicts challenge.

I cut a circle out of a post-it note and stuck it on a piece of ivory cardstock. I sponged around it with a light blue, then cut some mats for the hills. I sponged some darker blue over the rest of the sky.

I sponged the hills with two different inks, blending as I went. I stamped the fern several times before inking again to get variations in the colour.

I originally stamped the sentiment directly on the card but ended up with a big smudge so I stamped it on an oval, sponged the edges, matted it with a scalloped oval and added a ribbon bow. I matted the front layer and attached it to an ivory card base.

I used the following supplies:
Gina K. Designs: Happy Birthday to You and Made with Love stamp sets
                             Prickly Pear ink
                             Ivory, Honey Mustard cardstock
Stampin' Up! Pacific Point, Brilliant Blue and Cajun Craze ink
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Mini Glue Dot
scalloped oval die and ribbon from my stash

Marbled Background

This week the StampTV MIUM challenge is Let's Play with Marbles. We had to make a background with a marble and ink technique that can be seen in this video: http://stamptv.ning.com/video/making-a-background-using-1. Here is my card:

I made the background by rolling the marbles in some ink I had placed in a plastic container that would close. Then I taped the cardstock to the inside of the lid, turned it upside down and rolled the marbles on the cardstock. This transfers the ink onto the cardstock in a random way. The video explains it in a much better way!

I stamped the sentiment and the acorn in VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. I coloured in the acorn with markers and die cut it. I layered the background layer with brown and then placed it on a cream card base. I added the sentiment layer which was also matted with brown and popped the acorn up with a foam circle.

Here are the supplies I used:

Gina K. Designs: Birthday Blessings and Give Thanks stamp sets
                             Coordinating die
Stampin' Up! Copper Metallic re-inker and Cajun Craze ink
VersaMark ink
Martha Stewart Antique Gold embossing powder
cream and brown cardstock, markers, marbles, foam dot from my stash

Christmas card with snow

This week I made a card for the StampTV MIUM challenge It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. We had to make a Christmas card that had snow of some type. I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge Stamp it and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge Stamp it.

I started with a piece of watercolour paper which I taped onto my craft mat with washi tape. I squished three colours of blue ink pads onto my craft mat and wet the entire piece of paper with water. I picked up some of the ink with a paint brush and dabbed the colour onto the paper until I achieved the desired look. I let this dry completely.

I used my embossing bag over the top half of the paper to make sure the powder would only stick where I wanted. Using VersaMark ink I stamped the star, sprinkled on the gold embossing powder and heat set it. I mixed some white paint with water and flicked the droplets onto the paper to look like snowflakes. After this dried it didn't show up very well so I dabbed tiny bits of glue and sprinkled them with flocking powder. I also used glue and flocking powder at the bottom of the paper for a pile of snow. I matted the paper with blue and adhered this to a white card base.

I stamped the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock, cut it out and cut out a scalloped oval for a mat. I popped up the sentiment with foam squares.

Fall Fair

This week's challenge at StampTV MIUM - Fair Fun was quite a challenge. We were to use the theme State Fair as our inspiration. I looked through my stamps and came up with this card. I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

I stamped the jar image onto a piece of white cardstock 3 times. Then I stamped it twice on a scrap piece of paper, cut them out and used them as masks to stamp the 3 jars in the back. I coloured the jars and lids with alcohol markers. I cut out the labels and adhered them to the jars.

I cut the piece of patterned paper so that it fit in between the jars and taped it in place. I made the 1st place ribbon and used a Glue Dot to pop it up a bit. I matted the front panel with some red cardstock which I attached to a white card base.

I used the following supplies:

Gina K. Designs: Birthday Blessings stamp set
                             Cold Snap patterned paper
                             White cardstock
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Stampin' Up! Word Window punch and Banner Flag punch
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers: CR11, CR8, CR4, GB1, TB3, True Black
Glue Dot
