One layer collage

Today I have a card I made for the StampTV challenge-One Layer Collage.

When I read this I thought it had to be a one layer card, so that's what I made. I used Gina K pure luxury heavy weight card stock for the card as I knew I was going to be using my Spectrum Noir markers and I didn't want them to bleed through. 

I punched out 3 circles with a 2 inch punch to use for masks. I traced around them and stamped the sentiment and images inside the outlines. I stamped the other images, using my circles for mats. Then I cut out mats for those images and stamped the background heart sprigs.

I coloured in the balloons and present and sponged inside the circles, using the mat from the punched circles. I added some highlights to the balloons with a white PITT pen. I traced around the circles with a silver pen to make them look like they are a different layer. I also traced the ribbon on the present. I sponged around the outside of the card to give it a more finished look.

This doesn't look like the picture that I had in my head, but I'm fairly pleased with it. Maybe I don't have enough layers or maybe it's because I have spent 6 1/2 hours shoveling snow over the last two days! We had another 2 feet, with high winds, yesterday after the foot we had on Sunday. This is what my view from my front door was yesterday morning, before the snow stopped. The green bin on the left is about 3 1/2 feet tall. Sigh. At least I had card making therapy afterwards!

Embossed Flower Card

I made this card for two challenges this week. StampTV asked us to have heat embossing and colouring on our card. The Mod Squad Challenge Blog asked us to have a flower as our focal image.

For the Mod Squad Challenge if we use a stamp by Melanie Muenchinger we get an extra entry, so I chose the flower from the Square Pegs set. I stamped it with VersaMark ink all over a piece of Gina K layering weight white cardstock and embossed it with Recollections Snow embossing powder. I sponged VersaMagic Purple Hydrangea, Spring Pansy, and Pixie Dust chalk ink and ColorBox Yellow Ochre fluid chalk ink over the background.

On a smaller piece of white cardstock I stamped and embossed three more flowers, this time with Ebony embossing powder so that the focal image would stand out. I coloured in the flowers with Spectrum Noir markers PL2, PL3, PL4, CT2, CT4, PP2 and BP3. I stamped the sentiment from the Birthday Blessings set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I layered the focal image with a piece of pink cardstock and the background with black using Tombow Mono Adhesive and put it onto a white Gina K base weight card base. I popped up the focal image with some foam squares and added the bow with a mini Glue Dot. The pink and black cardstock and the ribbon are from my stash.

Beach scene

This week I made a beach scene for the challenge on Stamp TV-What shell we create? I am also entering it in the Mod Squad Challenge - Make a background and Hiding in my Craft Room - Freestyle.

I sponged the background, using various ink, onto a piece of ivory cardstock. I'm not sure I am happy with the sky part, but I wanted to make the sky different from the water so I went with a very light blue. I don't have any Gina K stamps that would go with a beach scene. I thought of trying to make a sand castle by masking some of the stamps I have, but that didn't work too well so I just left it as a scene.

I stamped the sentiment on a rectangular piece of cardstock, rounded the opposite corners and sponged the edges. I layered the background with some blue cardstock, and adhered that to an ivory card base. I attached the sentiment with some foam dots. I thought it needed something else so I added a few birds in the sky.

Spring card

I made a card this week for a few challenges. On the Mod Squad Blog we are asked to make a Spring card; for the Stamp TV challenge we are asked to use stamps from two different Gina K Designs sets and colour our focal image; and on Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge it's Anything Goes.

I cut out the coordinating die cuts with my Cameo, stamped the images with a Stamp-a-ma-jig and coloured them in. I added a few strips of washi tape to another piece of cardstock and stamped the sentiment. I added a mat and adhered the whole thing to a white card base. I popped up the images with some foam squares.

Paper Tole and Background

This week I have a card for two challenges. For the Stamp TV weekly challenge we are to create a background and on the Mod Squad Challenge Blog we are asked to create something with paper tole.

I used Gina's scrap paper technique for the main background and a variation on Kendra's reinker background for the focal image. I then did some paper tole for the flower. I used some of the petals on the flower for leaves and layered on the petals and the center with foam tape.

Pop up Birthday card

On the Mod Squad Challenge Blog this week, the challenge is to make a pop up card. I searched online for pop up cards and I found this birthday cake card from Kirigami Arts.

I printed out the pattern and coloured part of the cake. Then I cut and scored the lines on the pattern with a knife and folded all the score lines. I glued the coloured part on top of each layer, folded the card and let it sit overnight.

I used a Recollections punch to punch the top of the cardstock and stamped the Stampendous sentiment and sayings in Kelly Green Ink it Up! ink. It didn't come out well in the photo. I taped the card front onto a green card base.

All my stamps were from Stampendous so I assume this still qualifies for the extra entry, since the image was from the YouTube pattern.

Not a Valentine's Card

The StampTV Challenge this week is to make a card with a heart that is not a Valentine's card. I decided to use the heart shape to make a flower.

I stamped the heart shape from the Gina K Designs Square Pegs set in Stampabilities Violet ink eight times to make the flower. I stamped the sentiment from Gina K Designs Fabulous Frame set also using the Violet ink. I stamped the butterfly, also from the Fabulous Frame set in Stampin' Up! Peach Parfait.

I used a piece of Recollections Patterned Paper that matched the colour of the butterfly and a piece of light purple Recollections cardstock. I rounded the corners of one side of the patterned paper and all four of the focal image paper. I taped the light purple cardstock and patterned paper onto a white cardbase and used foam dots to attach the focal image. I slipped in a couple of pieces of sheer ribbon underneath the focal image.

Flower in water

On the Mod Squad Challenge Blog this week we are asked to have water on our card. It can be watercolour, water in a scene, stamped, sponged or anything that has to do with water. I chose to have a tiny scene of a flower floating in some water.

I started by colouring the background with Spectrum Noir markers and then I used the die cut for the flower, stamped it and coloured it with the markers, as well. I die cut a shape and used the negative for the focal image border and cut another small one for the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment and sponged around the edge of the die cut.

I adhered the water image onto a white card base, taped on the flower, used foam squares on the frame and taped on the sentiment.

Winter Inspiration

This week for the StampTV Challenge we were shown a picture of pine branch with snow on it and were asked to create a card using the picture as inspiration. This is what I came up with.

I chose the snow as my inspiration for my focal image and then also used the brown and green from the pine branch for the colours on the rest of the card. All of the stamps are from Gina K Designs.

I stamped the frame from the Fabulous Frame Set in Memento Rich Cocoa ink on a white card base. I paper-pieced the inner portion of the frame using some of the Gina K Designs Cold Snap Patterned Paper. I stamped the snowflake from the Snow Frame set with VersaMark In and used Recollections Glitz Embossing Powder on it. I stamped the sentiment from the Square Pegs set in Rich Cocoa. I wanted to make the snowflake stand out so I sponged some Stampin' Up! Taken With Teal ink around the snowflake. I coloured in the frame outline with Spectrum Noir marker BG6. I wanted some more sparkle on the card so I used a Kuretake ZIG glue pen over the marker and sprinkled Crystal GlitterRitz Warm Highlight on it.

The hardest part was trying to get a good picture!

Hummingbird card

On the Mod Squad Challenge Blog this week we are asked to have an animal on our project, except bugs.  I chose a hummingbird.

I stamped the image and coloured it with Spectrum Noir markers. I stamped the sentiment and matted the focal image with some pink cardstock. I die cut a flourish and cut some ribbon sections. I covered the card base with patterned paper, added the focal image and the die cut with the ribbon tucked in behind.
