Magazine card

There's Magazine Madness on the Mod Squad Challenge Blog this week! Well, the challenge is to create a card using magazine images. This is what I came up with.

I created the butterfly from a magazine image of a pineapple upside down cake, the flower from a red background, the leaves from a picture of a flower arrangement and the bird was from the background of another page. I stamped the butterfly and flower with StazOn Jet Black ink. I had tried with a different black but the magazine surface was too shiny for it to stick. I didn't need to stamp the leaves because they were a solid image and would have covered up the magazine picture.  I stamped the bird and the sentiment with Memento Rich Cocoa. For some reason that seemed to stick better to the magazine. All the stamps used were from the Gina K Birthday Blessings set. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images.

I used an embossing folder from the Cuttlebug Wedding Suite set on a piece of Gina K layering weight white cardstock. I then rubbed ColorBox Cranberry ink over the raised embossing. I used Gina K Cranberry Tart to layer the sentiment and for the card base. I added some brads from my stash to the sentiment layer and used foam squares to attach it to the Cranberry Tart layer. I adhered the magazine images with TomBow Mono Adhesive.

I had fun finding colours and backgrounds that would work with the stamps.

  1. Oh, wow, this is over-the-top creative. I love how you used the magazine pages as patterned paper instead of using actual images and cutting them out. Very well done! Great take on the challenge, thanks so much for playing along with us this week at Mod Squad!!
