Teal and Purple card

This week I have a card with colours I might not have put together on my own. The challenge on the Mod Squad Challenge Blog is to have teal and purple on our card. The cards that Joyce showed us were beautiful and I really liked the two colours together. I am also entering this in the Stamp TV Mix It Up Monday challenge - Double Talk. We needed to stamp the sentiment two or more times and then emboss them.

The sponsor this week on the Mod Squad Blog is Melanie Muenchinger and we get an extra entry if we use one of her stamps. I used her Fabulous Frame and Fabulous Holiday Fillers sets.

I stamped the frame on a piece of teal cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped the sentiment several times with Stampin' Up! Taken with Teal ink and embossed both the frame and sentiment with Recollections clear embossing powder.

I then used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the flower pattern. I used Spectrum Noir marker BT5 on the border of the frame.

I used the cut files for the belly bands and flower and then stamped them with Tuxedo Black using a Stamp A Ma Jig to get them centered. I coloured the belly bands with Spectrum Noir LV2 and used LV3, LV2, LV1, CT2, JG3, JG2 and JG1 on the flower.

I adhered the frame onto a white card base, added the belly bands and popped up the flower with some foam squares. I thought it looked a little dark so I made a bow from a spare piece of white ribbon and used a glue dot to attach it.
