I started with the tag. I had seen this idea on Pinterest, but have no idea where, so I can't give any credit. I cut thin strips of patterned paper and punched a small heart out of the end of each. The strip has to be the same width as the punch to give this effect. I stamped the sentiment, sponged the edges, attached the patterned paper and threaded the ribbon through the top.
To make the card, I stamped the image randomly over the card and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I sponged over the background, but didn't wipe off the embossed parts. This gives a darker look than the paper. I had a border that I received in a prize bag that I won, so I sponged the edge of the card and placed the border over top. I attached the tag and the card was finished!
I used the following supplies:
Gina K. Designs: Patterned Paper - Cold Snap
Stamp Sets - Square Pegs, Birthday Blessings
Black die cut border
Card stock - White layering weight and base weight
Stampin' Up!: Tag top punch
ColorBox ink: Cranberry
Versamark ink: Watermark
Recollections: Clear embossing powder
Small heart punch and ribbon from my stash
Fun design, love the background repeated stamping and all the gingham and hearts! Thanks for joining us this week, Dawn, at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tag card you created. Neat design!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful valentine card! I really like the combination of patterns and colors you used and the design on your tag is quite fabulous! I also like the little touch of gingham, which is so classic, yet you've made it look modern and fresh by using it the way you did. This is overall lovely and I'm so glad you shared your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
