Falling Leaves

I have one more card for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge. We have to make an ink smooshed background, with a Fall theme.

I started with a piece of Canson XL Recycled Bristol cardstock, and used Gina K. Designs(GKD) Sweet Corn, Wild Dandelion, Sweet Mango, Tangerine Twist, Faded Brick, and Red Velvet ink for the ink smooshed background.

One the background was dry, I trimmed it, layered it with GKD Dark Chocolate cardstock and stamped the leaves and sentiment in GKD Dark Chocolate ink. The leaves are from the GKD Autumn Silhouettes stamp set and the sentiment is from the GKD Stamper’s Favorites stamp set.

I adhered this to a white card base and added a few rhinestones for a bit of bling.

Pumpkin Wreath

I was inspired by one of Gina's Stamp and Chat to make a wreath on a tag. I used pumpkins to fit with the Mod Squad Challenge - Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere, and made another smooshed background for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge - Fall themed ink smooshed background.

I cut the tag out with a Decorative Tag die, and used the wreath builder and the pumpkin from the Autumn Wreath Builder stamp set to make the wreath. The pumpkins were stamped with
Tangerine Twist ink, and the stems were coloured in with a green marker. The sentiment is from the Wrapped in Love stamp set and was stamped with Warm Cocoa ink.

I made the smooshed background with Fresh Asparagus, Jelly Bean Green, Honey Mustard, and Warm Cocoa ink. Once it dried, I layered it with Tangerine Twist cardstock and adhered it to a white card base.

I added a bit of twine to the tag and used some foam squares to attach it to the card. Then I added a few sequins for a bit of colour.

All of the items are from Gina K. Designs, except the green marker, twine, foam squares and sequins.

Smooshing technique

I used the ink smooshing technique to make the background for this birthday card. I added some pumpkins, so I am entering it in two challenges - Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix (ink smooshing with a Fall theme) and Mod Squad (add at least one pumpkin).

To make the ink smooshed background, I used a large acrylic block and tapped my ink cubes on the block to transfer some colour. Then I sprayed it with a bit of water and smooshed my cardstock into the wet ink on the block. It makes some interesting patterns on your cardstock. If there are some bare spots, you can smoosh it into any ink that's left on the block. It's also fun to leave a few spots of white.

Once I let my background dry, I attached it to a white card base and added the pumpkins and the sentiment.

I used the following supplies:
Gina K. Designs: Haunts and Harvest stamp set and coordinating die
                             Enjoyable Greetings stamp set
                             Enjoy and shadow die set
Jelly Bean Green, Tangerine Twist, Honey Mustard, Warm Cocoa, Faded Brick ink
                             Chocolate Truffle Amalgam ink
                             White, Dark Chocolate cardstock
Canson XL Recycled Bristol cardstock (for the ink smooshing)
VersaMark ink
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers: OR1, OR2, OR3, GY3
brown embossing powder

October Scor-Pal More Than One Score

Can you believe that it's October already? I like the cooler temperatures that Fall brings, and I love the beautiful colours when the leaves turn. October also brings Halloween, so I made a Halloween card for the October Scor-Pal More Than One Score ChallengeThis month, the theme is Halloween/Treats, or you can make an Anything Goes project as long as it follows the general rules.

Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make "More Than One Score" and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won't count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc, will :) Also we love to see your "Anything But a Card" projects, just as long as you make "More Than One Score".

To make this card, you will need:
5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock

Supplies used to decorate:
Gina K. Designs Haunts and Harvest stamp set and coordinating dies
                            Jet Black Amalgam ink
Recollections Witch’s Dust Halloween paper pad
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers: IG1, IG2, IG3

To start, cut at 1 1/4” and 4 1/4” from 3/4” to 7” along the 5 1/2” side of the 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of cardstock. Place the cardstock in your Scor-Pal with the 8 1/2" along the top and the cut lines at 3/4" to the left. Score at 3/4”, 1 1/2”, 2 7/8”, 4 1/4”, and 6 1/4” between the cut lines. Score all the way across at 4 1/4”. Starting at 3/4”, the folds are mountain, valley, mountain, valley, mountain. The edges at 4 1/4” are mountain.

This is what it should look like.

Here it is folded and ready to decorate.

Here is the finished card, again. The piece with the bats on it is a little longer than the second step so it shows behind the ghosts. I used the Spectrum Noir markers to add a bit of shading on the ghosts. It is hard to see in the picture, but it shows up in real life.

You have all month to create a project, and you might win a gift certificate to the Scor-Pal store!
