Mandala Stencil

I am loving all the blue cards that I'm seeing on the Splitcoaststampers MISTI Monday challenge - Perfect Pantone, so I thought I would make another one. I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Use a Stencil.

I blended ink through the stencil, getting lighter as I went out from the middle. I attached it to a white card base with a blue mat. I thought it looked a little plain, so I went over most of the blue ink with Ranger Glossy Accents to give it some shine, and added a rhinestone in the middle.

I used my MISTI to double stamp my sentiment in blue, and clear heat embossed it. I cut it out, using my Cut-Align ruler to make sure it was straight. I matted it with blue, and attached it with foam squares.

Argyle Design

I have another card for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge - Let's Reflect. We have to take a card we made last year and give it a new look. I decided to make it in blue, so I can enter it in the Splitcoaststampers MISTI Monday Challenge - Perfect Pantone. The Pantone colour this year is Classic Blue, and the Blue Denim ink and cardstock from Gina K. Designs is a great match.

To make this pattern, start with a square piece of cardstock. Mine measured 5 1/4-inches square. With the right side down, line up the top point and bottom point with the 6-inch mark on your Scor-Pal. Score at the 3-inch, 4-inch, 5-inch, 6-inch, 7-inch, 8-inch and 9-inch marks. Move the top of the cardstock down a bit from the top, still aligned at the 6-inch mark. Using the Scor-Bug, roll along the 2 1/2-inch, 3 1/2-inch, 4 1/2-inch, 5 1/2-inch, 6 1/2-inch, 7 1/2-inch, 8 1/2-inch and 9 1/2-inch marks. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees and repeat the scoring directions. The Scor-Bug makes a line of little bumps in between the scored lines to give the argyle look.

For the silver mat, use a white piece of cardstock and colour the edges with a silver marker. Mine measured 5 1/2-inches square. Attach the silver mat to a white card base. Mine was 5 3/4-inches square. Attach the blue panel onto the silver mat.

Stamp the sentiment (using a MISTI to double stamp), heat emboss in clear, die cut it and trace around the edge of the die cut with the silver marker. Attach it to the blue panel with some foam squares and add a few rhinestones to finish it off.

Blue Feathers

This month, the Splitcoaststampers MISTI Monday Challenge is called Perfect Pantone. Pantone's Color of 2020 is Classic Blue, and we are to use that color on our card. Luckily, Gina K. Designs Blue Denim ink and cardstock are a matching color. For the Gina K. Designs January Monthly Mix Challenge, Let's Reflect, we are to take a card from last year, and give it a re-make.

This is a card I made last February.

And here is my re-made card.

I made an ombre background with Blue Denim ink and a blending brush. Using my MISTI, I stamped the sentiment, from the Gina K. Designs Stamper’s Favorites stamp set, in VersaMark ink, and heat embossed it in white. I added this panel to a white card base.

The feathers, from the same stamp set, were also stamped with VersaMark ink, and heat embossed it in white. I added ink to the feathers, using the leftover ink on the blending brush. I rubbed the white embossed part to remove any ink that might have adhered to it. I added the feathers to the card, and used a foam square to pop up the tip of one of the feathers.

Reflecting Again

I have another birthday card today. It fits two challenges: Gina K. Designs January Monthly Mix - Let's Reflect, and Mod Squad - Patterned Paper Play.

For the Let's Reflect challenge, we are to take a card from last year, and give it a makeover. I chose this card, and used the same stamp set for the background.

The Patterned Paper Play challenge asked us to make our own patterned paper. Here is my new card.

I decided to leave the background in one piece, instead of cutting it into three panels. I used different colours for the flowers, but otherwise the background is pretty much the same. I coloured the edge of the piece that I used for the mat with the darkest marker that I used for the flower. I did the same thing on the mat for the sentiment. 

I found the beautiful bow among my ribbon collection, and added it near the bottom. I used foam squares to adhere the sentiment, and then added Nuvo Crystal Drops to the middle of the flowers.

Let's Reflect

The new challenge at Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix is Let's Reflect. We are to take a card from last year, and re-create it, using at least one element from the original card. There is also a Mod Squad Challenge called Patterned Paper Play. We have to create our own patterned paper. I decided to combine them when I made my card.

This is the card from last year that I chose.

The element that I kept is the background. I made it a separate layer for my new card, so it's home made patterned paper.

I stamped the snowflakes, from the Gina K. Designs Sparkling Snowflake set, with Gina K. Designs Blue Denim ink, then stamped over them with VersaMark ink and clear embossed them. I fastened the 'patterned paper' to a dark blue panel and attached it to a white card base.

The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs Massive Messages stamp set and was stamped and embossed the same way. I matted it with dark blue cardstock and added it to the card with some foam squares. For the final touch, I adhered some rhinestones to the middle of some of the snowflakes.
