Sacred Lotus stencil

I'm getting in under the wire for the Penguin Palace Challenge #14 - Geometric

I recently received the Penguin Palace Sacred Lotus Stencils 360° set, and thought it would be perfect for this challenge. I used one of the stencils in the set and inked it up with 3 colours.

I added a bit more of each colour over the stenciled area. It's hard to see in the blue and purple areas, but it's easier to see in the pink area. I attached the background to a black square before adding it to a square card base.

I stamped one of the cute penguins from the Penguin Palace Penguin Agenda stamp set, coloured it with coloured pencils and then cut it out with the coordinating die. I added it to a circle that I coloured with the same pink ink, and matted it with a black circle. To finish off the card, I added a few rhinestones.

Channeling Gina K.

This month, for the Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge, we are asked to channel Gina, and use one of her videos as our inspiration. I chose Watercolor Die Cuts, which you can see Here.

I used some Staedtler watercolour markers to scribble on the cardstock, spritzed it with water, moved it around to get the look I wanted, and set it with my heat gun. If there wasn't enough colour in an area, I added more ink, and repeated the process.

Once it was completely dry, I used the Gina K. Designs Basket Weave Cover Plate Die to cut out the design. I also cut it out of white cardstock, inlaid the coloured pieces into the white frame, and used the leftover coloured piece as an outer frame. The sentiment comes from the Gina K. Designs Natural Silhouettes stamp set.

The best part about this inlaid technique is you can make a second card with the leftover pieces.

June Scor-Pal More Than One Score

I can't believe another month has gone by! That means it's time for a new Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge

I made a Father's Day card this month.

To make this card, you will need:
a piece of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock
patterned paper and embellishments to decorate

I started with the piece of cardstock, and with the 11" side at the top, made a mark 3" from the bottom on one side and 5 1/2" from the bottom on the other side. I lined up the two marks and cut along the line. You should end up with two pieces that are the same. You can set one aside for another card.

With the long edge along the top and the 3" side on the left of my Scor-Pal, I scored at 2 3/4" and 8 1/4". Then I flipped it over so the 5 1/2" side is on the left, and scored at 5 1/2".

Then you can decorate as desired.
I used Scor-Tape to add the patterned paper, from a paper pack by American Crafts. The sentiment and images are by Gina K. Designs, and come from the By The Sea, Follow Your Dreams and Time to Coast stamp sets. I coloured the images with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Since I am in Nova Scotia, these are images I see quite often. The weather is finally getting better, and we will soon be able to spend time on the beach!
