Watercoloured Embossed card

This month, the StampTV Kit Addicts challenge is to use watercolour on our card.  For the StampTV MIUM challenge we have to use the emboss resist technique. I decided to combine the two challenges in one card. I am also entering it in the Mod Squad Challenge - The Great Outdoors.

I stamped the butterfly image on watercolour paper with VersaMark ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder. I brushed water over the entire piece of paper and added the blue and green background colours. Then I wet the butterflies and used Prickly Pear to colour them. After everything dried, I found that they didn't stand out as much as I wanted, so I went over them with Lipstick. Once that was dry, I used Clear Wink of Stella on the butterflies to give them sparkle. I matted the card front with black and attached it to a white card base.

I stamped the sentiment, used a circle punch to punch it out and matted it with a black circle that I cut out with the Creative Memories cutting system. I popped it up with foam squares and attached it to the card front.

I used the following supplies:

Gina K. Designs: Made With Love stamp set
Blue Lagoon, Grass Green, Prickly Pear, Lipstick ink
                             White and Black cardstock
Hilroy watercolour paper
VersaMark ink
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Recollections: Clear embossing powder
                         2" punch
Creative Memories circle cutting system
Clear Wink of Stella pen
foam squares

  1. You have used one of my favorite watercolor techniques here. It always makes me smile when I paint over the embossed image and it just pops. Love your beautiful soft colors! Great take on the challenge, thank you so much for participating this week at the Mod Squad.
