June Scor-Pal Project

 

Since I made a Mother's Day card last month, it only seemed fair to make a Father's Day card this month!

I recently bought some of Lisa Horton's metallic ink pads. They are a dye based metallic pigment ink so you can do some interesting techniques with them. For this card I didn't do anything fancy with them.

I started by pouncing some Coastline Lisa Horton metallic ink through a Stampin' Up! Pattern Party Decorative Mask. Then I flipped my cardstock and scored some lines, using my Scor-Buddy I scored in 1/8" and 1/4" from each side. This gives raised lines on the front of the cardstock. 

I thought the stencilled pattern didn't show the shine of the metallic ink enough, so I swiped the ink pad over the edges of another piece of cardstock to make a background layer. Then I attached the two layers together with Scor-Tape, and then added them to a white card base.

I didn't want to cover up the design with a sentiment on the outside, so I put it on the inside, along with a stamped image and a strip of the inked up cardstock. The sentiment and image are from the Gina K. Designs By the Sea stamp set, and are stamped with Obsidian Amalgam ink.

Sunbird Spark Challenge #49

 This month's Sunbird Spark challenge is a sketch challenge.

I followed the sketch pretty closely for my card.

I started by inking up the Astern Charm Stencils 360° set with Gina K. Designs Wild Dandelion, Lovely Lavender, Light Orchid, Plum Punch, Jelly Bean Green, and Grass Green ink. I cut the design in half and attached one piece to a white card base. 

I looked through my patterned paper scraps and found one that looked nice with the design. I trimmed it down, added it to the left of the design, and used a small piece of gold foil paper to cover the join.

The sentiment is from the Hedgehogs in Love stamp set and was stamped with Gina K. Designs Obsidian Amalgam ink. I used a circle die to cut it out and layered it onto another circle which I blended some Plum Punch ink on.

To finish off the card, I used a heart gem for the dot on the letter i.

May Scor-Pal project

 

Since Mother's Day is in May, I have a Mother's Day Gate Fold card for you.

Supplies used:

Cardstock for card base - 4 1/4" x 11" (I used Gina K. Designs (GKD) Grass Green)

Cardstock for band - 1" x 10"

Patterned paper for front - 2 pieces of 4 1/8" x 2 5/8" (I used GKD Delicate Essentials)

Coordinating cardstock for inside - 4" x 5 1/4" (I used GKD Sweet Corn)

White cardstock for inside - 3 3/4" x 5"

Embellishments to decorate (I used GKD supplies: Flower Medley stamp set, stencils and die; Sweet Corn, Butterscotch, Jelly Bean Green and Grass Green ink; Square Starters stamp set and Obsidian amalgam ink for the sentiment)

Step 1:

For the card base, place the cardstock with the 11" side at the top of your Scor-Pal and score at       2 3/4" and 8 1/4".

Step 2:

For the band, place the 10" side at the top and score at 3 and 7 1/4". 

Step 3:

Fold along the score lines on the card base, add Scor-Tape to the patterned paper, and add to the two front flaps.

Step 4:

Stamp your sentiment on the white cardstock. Add Scor-Tape to the coordinating cardstock and white cardstock and attach to the inside of the card.

Step 5:

Fold the band along the score lines, making sure it fits around the card, and is able to slide. Add Scor-Tape to one end of the band. 

Step 6:

Remove the tape liner and fasten the band. Add decoration to the band.

Step 7:

Slide the band over the card to finish.

Sunbird Spark Challenge #48

 The Sunbird Spark Challenge this month is a Spring Moodboard, with a Colour Palette for inspiration.

I used a few colours of blue on my card.

I cut out the Hexagon Geo Cover Die from white cardstock, and then used the Geometric Arts stamp set to stamp the patterns on the various pieces.

For the sentiment, I used the An Amazing Friend stamp set.

I thought the frame needed a little colour, so I added some blue.

I used Gina K. Designs Blue Sky, Blue Raspberry and Powder Blue ink.

April Scor-Pal Project

 

This month, I am showing how to make a Six Pack Box that you can use for a gift box.

To make this project you will need:

Cardstock: 2 pieces of 9 1/2" x 6 1/4"

                  2 pieces of 6 1/2" x 5 3/4"

                  2 pieces of 8 3/2" x 4 1/4"

1 1/2" circle punch

Corner Cutter

Patterned paper: 2 pieces of 3 1/2" x 4 1/4"

                            2 pieces of 2 3/8" x 4 1/4"

ribbon, tag or other embellishments

Step 1:

Start with one of the 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" pieces of cardstock and place the 6 1/4" at the top of your Scor-Pal. Score at 1 1/4" and 5".  Turn the cardstock so the 9 1/2" side is at the top, and score at 8 1/4". Score at 3 3/4" down to the first score line and then from the bottom up to the second score line. Repeat with the other piece.

Step 2:

On both pieces, cut away the panels along the sides as shown, and cut along the bottom score lines to make tabs. Place Scor-Tape on the two tabs.

Step 3:

Fold along the score lines, folding away from the scored side. Fold in the tabs and attach them to the inside of the bottom flap.

Step 4:

With the 2 pieces of 6 1/4" x 5 3/4" cardstock, place the 6 1/4" side at the top of your Scor-Pal and score at 1 1/4" and 5". Turn the cardstock so the 5 3/4" is at the top and score at 4 1/2". Cut along the two score lines to make tabs, and add Scor-Tape to the tabs. Assemble as before.

Step 5:

Add Scor-Tape to the sides and bottom of the larger piece(left of picture) and attach the smaller piece(right of picture).

Step 6:

With the 2 pieces of 8 3/4" x 4 1/4", place the 8 3/4" side at the top, and score at 1 1/4", 3 3/4", 5", and  7 1/2". Turn the cardstock over and score at 2 1/2" and 6 1/4". 

Step 7:

Fold along the score lines, folding away from the side that is scored. Add Scor-Tape to the second panel from each side, and adhere together, as shown. Place one piece inside each box.

Step 8:

Punch a circle for a handle and round the two top corners of each piece. Add Scor-Tape on the back of each box. Adhere the two pieces together.

          

Step 9:

Add patterned paper and embellishments, as desired.

Sunbird Spark Challenge #47 Card 2

I have another card for the Sunbird Spark Challenge #47. Here is the sketch to inspire us:

I used one of the stencils from the Fancy Gift Bow Stencils 360° set for the central design, and added the outer design with one of the stencils from the Sacred Lotus Stencils 360° set. I layered it onto a black panel and attached it to a white card base.

The sentiment is from the An Amazing Friend stamp set. I added a black layer before adding it to the card front.

Sunbird Spark Challenge #47

 This month, the Sunbird Spark Challenge is a Sketch Inspiration.

I used the Diamonds Geo Stencils 360° set and inked up Barrel A with Gina K. Designs Medium Orchid ink, and Barrel B with Dark Orchid ink, rotating 45° each turn. I love the way the two stencils make a great design together.

The front panel was layered with black and attached to a white card base.

I stamped the sentiment, from the An Amazing Friend stamp set, in Obsidian Amalgam ink and layered it with a black panel cut with the Cottage Cutz Stitched Square die set. I cut one side of the layer, turned the die around and cut the other side, to make a smaller shape.

March Scor-Pal Project

 

My friend turned 100th last month, so I made her a special Tri-fold card.

Step 1:

On each of your 2 pieces of cardstock, place the 10" side at the top and score at 5".

Step 2:

Stamp your image with VersaMark ink on a piece of vellum paper, and heat emboss with gold embossing powder. Stamp it again on regular cardstock, colour it in and cut it out.

Step 3:

Cut an oval big enough to hold most of your stamped image in both pieces of gold foil cardstock. Make sure that you have the two foil sides on the outside so that the holes will line up on the front of your card.

Step 4:

Line up one of the gold pieces on the right side of one of the scored pieces of cardstock. Trace through the hole and cut out slightly bigger than the traced line. This will make it easier to line everything up.

Step 5:

Tape the vellum paper onto the back of one of the gold foiled panels, lining up the image as you want it to appear. Tape that onto the front of the sheet of cardstock with the oval hole, and tape the other gold foiled panel on the back. You have sandwiched the vellum and the cardstock between the two gold foiled pieces.

Take the other sheet of 10" x 7" cardstock and trim off 1/8" from the right hand side. This will make it easier to fold the completed card. Add Scor-Tape to the inside of the left hand side of the cardstock and attach it to the back of the right hand side of the first sheet. This will give you the shape shown below. Decorate the middle section with your sentiment.

 

Step 6:

Line up the coloured image with the outline on the vellum paper and attach it to the folded right hand side. For this part, I used glue to give me some wiggle room.

Sunbird Spark Challenge #46

 This month, we have a Valentine moodboard as inspiration.

Here is my card; a Valentine for my husband!

I stamped the elements, from the Hedgehogs in Love stamp set, and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I coloured in the hearts with a Spectrum Noir alcohol marker.

I decided to make an ombre background, using Gina K. Designs Bubblegum Pink, Passionate Pink, Red Velvet and Cherry Red ink.  I added this to a red panel before attaching it to a white card base. Then I adhered my elements, popping up the sentiment bubble.

February 2025 Scor-Pal Project

 

We're through the first month of 2025 already! This month, I have a cute box to show you. It will hold a deck of playing cards, or other small items.

Step 1

With the 7" side of the cardstock at the top of your Scor-Pal, score at 3/4", 3 1/4", 4" and 6 1/2". Turn the cardstock 90° to the left and score at 3/4", 1 1/2" and 5". Fold along all score lines.

Step 2

Using the picture below as a guide, trim and clip the cardstock. Round the corners of the topmost flap. You can angle the cuts on the top two tabs on the left to make it easier to close the box.

Step 3

Add the patterned paper to the box fronts and sides. Using a circle punch, punch a half circle in the left front panel. Add Scor-Tape to the right side tab and right bottom tab.

Step 4

Remove the tape liner from the right flap and attach the flap to the back of the left side to form the box. Remove the tape liner from the bottom flap, fold in the side tabs, then the flap with the tape and finally the last flap. 

Step 5

Decorate as desired. The patterned paper I used is from Gina K. Designs, called Floral Essentials. The sentiment is from the Peace, Love and Joy stamp set, also by Gina K. Designs.
