Scenic Silhouettes

This week, the challenge on StampTV MIUM is to create a scene with silhouettes. We could use a bold, filled in image or use an outline stamp and colour it in a dark colour.

I started by sponging the background, keeping the colours fairly light, and added a cloud in the sky using the edge of a stencil. I decided to use a bold stamp for the silhouettes and stamped it twice. I added the sentiment and a mat. I embossed the front of the card base with an embossing folder and adhered the focal image.

I used the following supplies:
Gina K. Designs: Love and Prayers stamp set
Blue Lagoon, Prickly Pear, Grass Green ink
                          Prickly Pear, White cardstock
ColorBox Frost White ink
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Fairy Tale Creations Chalk Talk stencil
Cuttlebug Baby's Breath embossing folder

Inking with Acetate

I made this card for two challenges: StampTV MIUM Flower Poppin' Spring - we had to choose only one flower stamp and StampTV Kit Addicts Let's Play with Acetate - we had to use acetate as a paintbrush. I am also entering the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge - Splash It On (use water somehow) and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Showers and/or Flowers.

I started by stamping and embossing the flower image onto a piece of cardstock. To use acetate as a paintbrush, I pushed the ink pad onto a piece of acetate to transfer some ink. I did that with the three colours and then sprayed the ink with water. I turned the acetate upside down and pressed it onto the cardstock. I moved it around until the entire piece of cardstock was covered.

There was a part of the colouring that I didn't like. The yellow and purple mixed too much and turned muddy, so I decided to make a banner for the sentiment and cover up the muddy part. I made it the same way as the background, except I didn't use any yellow and popped it up with some foam squares.

I mounted the background onto a mat that was coloured with a marker and then adhered everything to a white card base.

I thought the card needed something else, so I die cut the butterflies from some inked cardstock, added some Stickles to the background and some Wink of Stella to the flowers.

Supplies used:
Gina K. Designs: Sending Love and Made with Love stamp sets
Passionate Pink, Wild Wisteria, Wild Dandelion ink
Canson XL Recycled Bristol paper
VersaFine Onyx Black ink
Star Dust Stickles
Butterfly dies by Simonne Clay
Clear Wink of Stella

acetate, clear embossing powder, foam squares from my stash

Metallic Background

The challenge this week on StampTV MIUM is to use metal on our card. There is also a challenge on the StampTv Kit Addicts page - use Emboss Resist. This is a card I made for the two challenges.

I decided to use aluminium foil for the background. I used an embossing folder to make the pattern and attached it to a white card base.

For the emboss resist, I used a piece of white cardstock, stamped the flowers and leaves with VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. Using a sponge dauber, I applied ink over the whole panel. The embossed areas resist the ink and stay white. I stamped the sentiment, attached the panel to the background and added a bow with a Glue Dot.

Supplies used:
Gina K. Designs: Made With Love, Birthday Blessings stamp sets
Applemint, Peach Bellini, Sweet Mango ink
VersaMark ink
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Cuttlebug Paper Lace ll embossing folder
Mini Glue Dot
Aluminium foil, White cardstock, Clear embossing powder, ribbon from my stash

Rainbow Birthday Card

Today, I made a card for three challenges: Gina K. Designs Release Party challenge - Emboss Resist; Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge - Make a Rainbow; Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Happy Birthday.

Emboss resist is one of my favourite techniques. I stamped the flowers with VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Using sponge daubers, I added ink to the flowers and then rubbed over them with a tissue to remove any ink from the embossed parts.

I stamped the sentiment, matted the panel with black and attached it to a white card base. I decided it needed a little something, so I added the sequins.

Materials used:
Gina K. Designs: Better with You, Birthday Blessings stamp sets
Cherry Red, Sweet Mango, Wild Dandelion, Grass Green, Blue Raspberry,
                                            Wild Lilac ink
                          White and Black cardstock
VersaMark ink
VersaFine Onyx Black ink
White embossing powder, sponge daubers, sequins, double sided tape from my stash

Easter Blessings

I made this card for two challenges: StampTV MIUM - Happy Easter and the Mod Squad Challenge - Ya Wanna Piece of Me? (use the paper piecing technique).

I stamped the frame onto a white card base and coloured in the edges of the frame with an alcohol marker. I stamped the frame again on the yellow patterned paper, cut out the oval and side pieces and adhered them to the frame. Using masking paper I sponged the rays in the top section and the purple in the bottom section.

I used a word from two different phrases to make my sentiment, cut it out and matted it. I stamped the egg onto different patterned papers and cut them out. I decorated the eggs with stamps or more patterned paper.

I attached the sentiment with some foam squares and the eggs with double sided tape.

Supplies used:
Gina K. Designs: Fabulous Frame, Square Pegs, Birthday Blessings stamp sets
                         Delicate Essentials paper pack
                         Wild Lilac, Sweet Corn ink
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Spectrum Noir alcohol marker: HB2
foam squares, double sided tape, sponge daubers and white cardstock from my stash
